After a retreat from global politics in the 1990s, Russia is returning to the global stage.  High commodity prices have helped stabilize Russia economically while enhancing her political confidence.  Whether it is, Russia’s leadership of international organizations, or her high profile role in the arms trade, the importance of Russian cooperation is clear.  Working unilaterally and in tandem with organizations such as the UN Security Council and the G8, Russia is playing a greater and more influential role in the Middle East and in the world at large.

Professionals in Russian, East European and Eurasian Affairs has invited a distinguished group of academics and professionals to discuss and analyze Russia’s reemergence into world affairs. The following topics will be highlighted in three separate panels: Security and World Order; Energy; and the Dialogue of Civilizations.

We look forward to your participation in the PREEA Annual Conference. To register, please send your name and affiliation to rsvp@preea.org by April 2, 2007. Visit www.preea.org for an updated schedule before the event.
